The AIMS of GPCCD In 1993, Pittsburgh Association of the Deaf, Inc. established an organization namely “Greater Pittsburgh Community Center for the Deaf,” GPCCD in short. The purpose of GPCCD was to be recognized as a nonprofit organization with a status of tax exemption under the section (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code. This organization acts in the best interests of the deaf community by offering workshops of interest, hosting fundraisers and sponsoring athletic events. Below are the aims that the Greater Pittsburgh Community Center for the Deaf thrives for as outlined in the by-laws: · To promote social, cultural and athletic activities among deaf individuals · To promote civic and educational programs such on behalf of deaf individuals · To provide appropriate referral services so that deaf individuals may benefit from existing programs, and to work toward attaining those that do not exist. · To encourage amateur athletic team competitions on local, statewide, regional, national, and international levels in order to promote sports interests and skills among deaf individuals. GPCCD is a 501(c)(3) organization. All contributions are tax deductible to the extent permitted by the law. |
