Where: South Park - Cabin Shelters

Directions: Route 88 South-to-South Park Cabin. This is Corrigan Drive until you pass the Skating Rink and fairground softball/baseball; turn right through the big parking lot and the police office until you see a road then turn right and follow the road. It will be about 1/8 mile away and you will see the sign that says Cabin. (Little cute house)

What: Paints on face & body; Kids activities with many games including water balloons, eggs with spoons, duck & GOOSE, Potato bags to hop, recreation such as volleyball, bocce, poker. Lots of BBQs meal such as Chicken, Hamburger, Hot Dog, Vegetable Salad, Watermelon and many different snacks.

Special Event at 3pm: GPCCD coed team (Deaf) will play against GPRID coed team (Hearing interpreters). Please come and watch us play.

Donation: $5.00 at Door / Under 12 $2.00 / Under 5 Free.

I wish all of you a healthy, happy 2008.  In the year of 2007, PAD had gone through a lot of changes and accomplished our goals.  I want to thank all of you who made our club more livable and more enjoyable at our social times.  Also, I want to especially thank our volunteer who did a lot of work to improve our basement.

As you are aware our club house is the one of the fewest Deaf Clubs in the USA that is owned by its members.  You should be proud of your accomplishments.

I just want to introduce u about myself. This is Lori Ann LaSorsa as Athletic Director, club manager assistant, newsletter editor and bartender in our Deaf clubhouse. I would like to know if you are still interesting to play softball this year, and please let me know as soon as possible throughout February. I can find out who will be interested to play and how many participants for either women, men or COED team.. That way I can make the reservation for the league here in Pittsburgh.

There will be possibly to have women team only or men team only, depends on how many participate to play against hearing teams in league. There will be CAAD tournament in July, to play against deaf team for either men and women’s team only (no COED). Also there will be another NSAD tournament in Colorado for men, women or COED team. We also can play COED league games against hearing teams in Pittsburgh league before departing to NSAD.

If you know anyone who are interested to participate softball for men, women and COED team, please let me know, so I can add your name on the list.

WHEN START:
September 21st, 2007 and every Fridays except for the 2nd Friday of every month due to Active Meeting. The starting time will be at 9:30 p.m. and takes about 4 hours to finish.

HOW MANY WEEKS:
We will have a 30-week schedule, starting on September 21st and ending on June 6th, 2008. The Finals will be on June 20th. You can play in all 30 weeks and most people do have some other commitments so we decided to give every player an opportunity to sit out 6 sessions throughout the season. If a particular player decides to play in all 30 Fridays, we will eliminate the lowest 6 weeks. There will be no SUBSTITUTION TO REPLACE YOU FOR 1 WEEK!!!

OVERALL TOURNAMENT (FINAL NIGHT):
All players who have played at least once in our League are eligible to play in the Final Tourney. For Who showed up between 24 to 20 Weeks each player’s points will be multiplied by 50 (rounded up to the nearest 25) and receive that amount in chips. For who showed up between 19 to 11 Weeks each player’s points will be multiplied by 30( rounded up to the nearest 25) for less than 10 weeks each player’s points will be multiplied by 10 (rounded up to the nearest 25) If there are 54 players in our league then we will have 7 tables and the top 7 point leaders will be seated at Seat #1 in each table. If a person doesn’t show up that night, he/she will be placed in Seat #3 and the chips will go in the pot during Small Blinds and Big Blinds until the half-hour mark and then the chips will go in at the highest amount of Big Blinds that time in every hand until the chips run out.

This is the biggest advantage of your time - you can get our news, announcements, and other events first through email instantly. The quarterly newsletters come in later. Another advantage is to save PAD’s financial for sending out the newsletter mailings (reducing the cost of papers, printing, and postage).

When you are paying for the 2008 membership, we will ask you if you wish to continue subscribing our newsletter by mail. If you chose to say NO, we will remove your name and mailing address in our database to stop sending the newsletter. Then you will need to join the electronic email subscription for PAD news and events through our website.

To follow the steps on how to subscribe PAD news/events from your email:
1. Look at the YELLOW box on top right sidebar.
2. Enter your email address in text box and hit ‘Subscribe’ button.
3. The pop-up window appears. Feedburner will request you to verify the message. Follow this step.
4. Feedburner will send your email for another final verification message. Check your email.
5. In that email message, click the web address to activate your email subscription.

If you didn’t follow those steps above, you will not get email subscription from PAD news and events.

Don’t forget to schedule your times for these new dates of PAD Active Meetings.
