PADETTE No. 69, Ver 1: President’s Corner

HELLO EVERYONE,

DURING THE HOLIDAYS’S HOPE ALL OF YOU HAD A NICE ONE. WOW! WEEKS AGO WE HAD SNOWING COMING DOWN AND THOUGHT NEVER STOPS.  I AM SURE EVERYONE LOOKING FORWARD TO SPRING.

GOOD JOB AND WELL DONE!!

Congratulation to all the committees and crews for working so hard to provide exciting events in 2009. Can you make the events and activities in our good old club more fantastic and exciting in 2010? Can you make something more creative in any events? PLEASE involved and help our committees and crews to make 2010 greatest year ever in P.A.D.!

SPEAKING OUT!  (FOR ACTIVE MEMBERS ONLY)

Do you know that there are about ninety (90) active members in P.A.D.?  Our meeting records show that about only one-third (1/3) of active members attended the monthly meetings regularly in 2010. We understand that some of you were busy with somewhere else, but our officers are very concern with P.A.D.’s future.  We are faced with some shortage of “willful” active members, who would like to run the officers and involved the current club functions.  We are being asked to attend the meeting more regularly in order to benefit your experience and will understand how our club operates in a fashion way!  Our by-laws (Article V, Section 3) states that an active member shall be eligible to hold the office if he/she attends at least six meetings a year.  Also, we recommend you to refresh your memory by reading the by-laws. Please check our Website.

CAN YOU MAKE A NEW YEAR RESOLUTION BY ATTENDING THE MONTHY MEETING MORE OFTEN?

We know that the meeting is usually boring, but it is still very important anyway.  This is your club where our deaf culture thrives for so many years!  If you don’t like the way the club runs, you can speak out because we are in free country.  Remember that our officers have a lot of helping hands to prepare the club functions.  If you are not willing to attend that meeting anymore or will not run in office in future, then you can be an Associate member and our members will understand your intention without any hard feelings! Please don’t point your finger to anyone whom you know that he/she does not attend the meeting regularly. Just point yourself and please try to be patience and attend those boring and important meetings! We are P.A.D. brothers and sister!  We have to work and play together.

REMIND YOU TO RENEW YOUR MEMBERSHIP DUES FOR 2010!

Come to our next events on Feb 13th for Valentine’s Day Party. There will be free T-Shirts giving away from Steel City Interpreters that night!!! Come on out and bring your wives, girlfriend, dates!!

St Patrick’s Day Party on March 13th. Easter Bash on March 27th.

5th year of Pittsburgh Poker League

WHEN START:
September 11th, 2009 and every Fridays. The starting time will be at 8:15 p.m. and takes about 4 hours to finish.

HOW MANY WEEKS:
We will have 3 sessions in one season.  The 1st session – 1/3rd of 16-week game schedule, starting on September 11th and ending on Jnauary 8th, 2010 or TBA. The Finals will be on Jan 15th or TBA at 8PM

The second and third sessions will be TBA.
You can play in all 15 games in one session and the 16th week will be FINAL session of tournament. Most people do have some other commitments so we decided to give every player an opportunity to sit out 2 games throughout the each Third of the session. If a particular player decides to play in all 15 games, we will eliminate the lowest 2 games. There will be no SUBSITUTION TO REPLACE YOU FOR ONE GAME!!!

OVERALL TOURNEY (FINAL NIGHT):
All players who have played at least once in our League are eligible to play in the Final Tournament. For Who showed up between 9 to 13 games each player’s points will be multiplied by 50 (rounded up to the nearest 25) and receive that amount in chips. For who showed up between 5 to 8 games each player’s points will be multiplied by 30( rounded up to the nearest 25) for less than 4 games each player’s points will be multiplied by 10 (rounded up to the nearest 25) If there are 54 players in our league then we will have 7 tables and the top 7 point leaders will be seated at Seat #1 in each table. If a person doesn’t show up that night, he/she will be placed in Seat #3 and the chips will go in the pot during Small Blinds and Big Blinds until the half-hour mark and then the chips will go in at the highest amount of Big Blinds that time in every hand until the chips run out.

PLAYING YOUR HOLE CARDS
You are required to show both of your cards in a showdown and if you only showed one card, the other card automatically goes into the muck. If you have both cards together and one of the cards is face up and the other one is face down, the “facing down” card is automatically into the muck. If you had both cards together (face up), and then lay it down, sliding the top card sideways, that is acceptable.

COMMUNICATION DEVICES
Using cell phones, pagers, or any other communicable devices during the league is PROHIBITED. If you need to make a call or answer message, you can do so but you have to leave your table first and then making call. After the completion of the call, you may return to the table and play the next available hand.

POINTS SYSTEM:
Depending on the number of players playing that night… For example, if 20 players show up on one Friday, the 1st place will earn 20 points, 2nd place gets 19 points, all the way to the 20th person getting 1 point.

We also give out bonus points to the final table (8 players), 1st place will get 8 extra points, all the way down to the 8th place finisher getting one point.

We will still have the “Bust-Out” chips but the points will be different than last year. You will get 1 point for busting a player out and 2 points for busting out this season’s weekly champions. For the first week, all chips are worth one point and in the 2nd week, if that 1st week champion plays in that night, his/her chip is worth 2 points.

In order to win the Royal Flush pot, you have to have a showdown between yourself and 1 or more player(s). If everyone else folded and you are the only one left, you CANNOT win this points. The points will be carried from week to week, and continue throughout the season.

If you plan on coming to that night and will be late, please give us a call at PAD VP 412-532-4542 or e-mail me at BIGJEFF71@sprint.blackberry.net That way we will put your chips at a particular table and the blinds will be put in accordingly. If you are not there within 1 HOUR, The Chips will be taken away.

MEMBERSHIP:
I encourage all of you to be a member of the Pittsburgh Association of the Deaf Club. If you are not a member of PAD and you win prize, some of the prize will be allocted to cover the PAD membership fee.
