I.T. Policy

Information Technology Policy

Information Technology is now integrated into almost every aspect of life.  Information from emails and websites must respect the rights of the community.  We have freedom of speech.  Nonetheless, users of emails should be aware of confidential matters and how to manage that confidential information accordingly.  If members are concerned and believe a member violated a by-law or conducted himself/herself inappropriately, causing stress or harm to a person, or if that person’s health and safety is being compromised, PAD has adequate cause to access data residing in PAD emails and website.

Standard of Conduct.

The website, http://www.pghdeafclub.org/ contains information and pictures of events sponsored by the Pittsburgh Association of the Deaf.  The following contents are not to be on the website:  Inappropriate photographs, photographs of members or non-members with alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverages and any financial information.

An active member requesting information such as the emailing of minutes is permitted, with the exclusion of financial information, the names of members who are suspended, or any other information that may cause stress or harm to members.  Emailing the “edited” minutes requires special permission from the executive board members.  The minutes are not permitted to be forwarded to other persons.  The requestor must sign an “agreement” with the association that if he/she violates this provision, his/her active membership standing will be permanently revoked.

All board members are not to share their personal email address in the newsletter or website.  They are to be assigned an email address to ensure better quality of communication with members and non-members.  These emails will be monitored in situations where the board members feel they are being compromised.
